Newtown Terrace

Sustainable Eco features

🌱 Above Australian standards of insulation to avoid excessive cold and heat in the terrace

🌱 Design allows cross ventilation in every room of the terrace to allow the rooms to naturally cool down in summer

🌱 Large water tank which services laundry and bathroom

Client's Brief: To convert the existing 2 bedroom terrace to 4 bedrooms with lots of natural light. The current terrace does not have a connection to the outdoor space with very dark living space. They wanted a terrace that is comfortable and affordable to live in.

Design Solution: The new design introduced large windows with careful calculations that allow ample natural light without overheating the space. Each habitable room is carefully designed to allow cross ventilation, so each space can breathe and cool down naturally in the summer heat. By retaining the existing terrace roof, we adhered to Council's strict rules in Heritage Conservation area, and still achieving a new first floor addition with 2 new bedrooms and bathroom.
